#31DC2017: 4. Green

Hey gorgeous beings! How was your manic Monday? Did you wish it was Sunday? That is definitely my fun day. Yup, my “I don't have to run” day...Also, I bet I can tell you what you're humming at the moment! *shimmy shimmy shimmy*

Before I perfect the art of talking utter nonsense, let's get to today's prompt, shall we? It is going to be a ROLLERCOASTER RIDE so hang on to your seats, boys and girls!

4. Green

I started by laying down 2 coats of China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint as my base. I then tore off pieces of a make up sponge and sponged a broad area in the middle of the nail with OPI Jade Is The New Black. In the centre of the area I sponged in a bit of Nubar Greener for some sparkle. Lastly, I just added some loose gold glitter and sealed it all in with a good thick topcoat (Seche Vite FTW!)

Okay, so this was hella easy but I swear I will start pushing myself a bit more. I have been feeling like I've been taking these prompts a bit too easy so I am going to try and bring in some more detail and harder techniques. Let me emphasize the TRY though, not promising anything!

Lots of mad love...

#31DC2017: Red....Yes, this is an actual post!

The door creaks open as she slowly enters the room. Dust dances in the sunbeams that break through the dirt stained windows, illuminating her hulking silhouette dragging itself across the floor. Like an injured animal she groans as she picks up the axe, trembling legs barely being able to stand but she uses determination as her drive. Suddenly, a glint of light catches the blade of the axe as she slams it into the door. “HERE’S THEA!”

Wow, so much drama! Can we all just calm the hell down? So I didn’t blog for a while? So I got distracted? So I…Oh my gosh, I missed you guys and my little space so much! Can we all group hug please? Besides, what better way of getting back into blogging by attempting the 31 Day challenge…again! Yeah, apparently I’m a masochist!

So it begins...again...

I really didn’t have much inspiration for today’s mani except that I knew I wanted to use teal with red. I am a sucker for this colour combo so this is what I came up with. I started out by laying down a coat of Color Club French Tip as my base. Using a nail art brush I placed random small blobs of OPI A Oui Bit Of Red, China Glaze Ruby Pumps and OPI Fly on my nails and then just filled in the pattern toward the outside of the nail, interchanging these colours.

I really actually like how this came out. This was honestly just a moment of having fun with the various colors. Time consuming, but fun!

Lots of mad love...

Lazy Flowers FTW!

Hi there lovelies & globs! Have you ever had one of those days where you have all the meh’s in the world on your shoulder? I’m having one of those days. I just want to go find a corner and cry for no reason... And then look for actual reasons and cry some more! COS I’M THAT HARDCORE! Man, my teenage emo kid would’ve been proud. But alas, I’m an adult and I know there are people out there with actual reasons to cry and they just keep motoring on! I salute you, legit martyrs!

So I was dying to post today and really want to start posting more because I actually love blogging and I do have material lined up. I’m just, plainly said, LAZY! Lazy lazy lazy! But in an attempt to get me out of this funk I decided to post. So I give you this SUPER EASY random flower mani. Random and easy but made with love!

I started out by laying down 2 coats of China Glaze Some Like It Haute. For the flowers I simply dipped a dotting tool into a bit of China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy, OPI If You Moust You Moust and Essence Blue Bubble Di Blue and placed flower patterned dots over the base. For the little dots inside the flowers I used WOW Nail Polish #393.

Straight forward and to the point! Don’t you wish life was like that?? Easy peasy as dipping dotting tools in pretty polish...just make sure your life’s base is a bad ass glitter bomb!

Lots of mad love...

#31DC2015: Violet aka OH MY GLOB!

Haaaa! It's still Sunday in South Africa so I can still post my violet nails! Talk about nailing it! Let's jump straight into it shall we?

#31DC2015: Violet

So I am a huuuuge Adventure Time fan! Yes I'm an "adult", yes it is a cartoon and yes I am turning 26 in a couple weeks but you know what? I don't care! I will always embrace my inner child. So in honor of that, I give you one of my favorite Adventure Time characters...Lumpy Space Princess.

I started out with 2 coats of OPI Grape...Set...Match on all my nails. On my ring and index finger I stuck on star studs that I painted with Tip Top Nail Chic Sun Kissed and then I top coated them with Seche Vite Top Coat...BIG MISTAKE by the way. Now my stars look all lumpy and melted but anyhoo! For my ring finger I painted the word with my striping brush and Essence Love Is In The Air. Lastly on my middle finger I painted on my favorite princess using a nail art brush, Essence Love Is In The Air, WOW Nail Polish #393 and Morgan Taylor Invitation Only.

Like I said, I am soooo bummed I topcoated my ring and index finger. The studs would've been perfectly fine but yes, I had a "moment". Anyhoo, enjoy the last few hours of Sunday!

Lots of mad love...

#31DC2015: Orange aka Orange you glad I'm posting again??

Ok yes! My title is SUPER LAME but whatever mkay? Bad jokes and horrible puns are kind of my thing! AND DAMMIT, I SHALL EMBRACE IT!

Anyhoo, on to le good stuff...

#31DC2015: Orange

So I might have been dying to try Ikat nails for quite some time now but when it comes to actually doing my nails, I completely forget about it! So what better time than the #31DC2015 right? I'm not going to describe in detail how I did it but if you want to do Ikat nails you can follow this very easy tutorial by Kayla Shevonne.

For my base I used China Glaze Recycle. For my Ikat pattern I used OPI In My Back Pocket (light orange), Tip Top Nail Chic Solar Flare (darker orange) and my trusty WOW Nail Polish #393 for the black parts.

Easy peasy lemon squeezey! Oh and yay for killing an untried that's been sitting in my polish drawer for over a year! I will definitely be using you again, OPI In My Back Pocket!

Lots of made love...

And so it begins...#31DC2015

Lovelies! Oh my glob, oh my glob, OH MY GLOB, it is finally here! THE 31 Day Challenge 2015!!! Are you spazzing cos I’m spazzing...SO HARD! I am excited and terrified at the same time but you know what? I am going to try my best to finish it! GO TEAM ME!

I am jumping straight into the challenge today so let’s get to it shall we?

#31DC2015: Red

I’ll be dead honest. When I open my polish drawers, red doesn’t tend to be the first colour I go for so it didn’t leave me feeling very inspired. Luckily after browsing through some colour combos on Pinterest, I finally found a colour that goes with red that makes me go “squeeeeeeee” and the red...and teal mani was born!

I started out by laying down 2 coats of OPI Fly as my base. When this was dry, I went in with my nail art brush and made cloudy type shapes using Sinful Colors Snow Me White. I then used the same brush and made random round blobs with Hean City Fashion #156 over the white. Finally, I went in with my striping brush and just added white circles around the blobs to round them off.

I was pretty happy with this mani. I did realise though that I need to invest in some good acrylic paints so I can paint things like circles...well, more circley! But Day 1 down, ammaright?? Only 30 more prompts to go!

Lots of mad love...

#PPSANailChallenge: Purple aka Mosaic Madness??

Ladies! Lovelies! “How you doin?” as Joey from Friends would say. Before we go any further, let’s talk about this phrase for a second. Well, I actually just want to address most dudes...Unless you are Joey from Friends, it aint gonna work! Ask my husband and his brother. It just provokes a “Whaaaat?” look. Now, as a girl who considers herself to be kind of a geek, rather use this line...”Wibbly wobbly timey whimey...stuff” *faints*

SOURCE

Purple

So today I am continuing with the #PPSANailChallenge. After today I only have 4 more prompts left which I want to get done ASAP because I want try and do the 31 Day Challenge this year again but this time I’m going to finish it! Well...I’m going to try and finish it but I want to for personal reasons. Will tell you all about that when I start the challenge though. Now for this mani I again didn’t have much inspiration but after drooling over Sveta Sanders' Instagram account for days I finally decided to give one of her mani ideas a go. It’s not nearly as epic as HERS but it gets the job done!

I started by laying down 2 coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White. I pre-made some strips using China Glaze Grape Pop, China Glaze Spontaneous and OPI Grape Set Match on a plastic baggie beforehand and cut out random pieces from it when it was dry. I then layed down a coat of a clear topcoat and went to town with the random purple pieces all over my nails. Lastly, I just finished my mani off with some Seche Vite Top Coat.

Simple, straight forward and kind of pretty! In hindsight I wish I cut the pieces a little smaller but I am planning on doing this mani again sometime so will definitely remember to do it then!

Have an awesome weekend and tons of mad love...

#PPSANailChallenge Traffic aka Whaaaaat??

Ladies! Lovelies! Whassup?? Not much here except for I am PSYCHED homies! It is long weekend so no work on Monday! *throws confetti* Today I am continuing with my epic journey to finish the #PPSANailChallenge. SO LET’S BANG IT!

Traffic

Honestly, who came up with this prompt?? Traffic? Really?? Oh wait, it was Briget from Because I Can...lady, we’re you high on carbon dioxide fumes?? Brigets be crazy! Only way I can explain it. Anyhoo...after pretty much splitting my head open to try and figure out what the heck I’m going to do *side eyes Briget* I was squizzing through Instagram and found this epic mani by Oh My Gosh Polish and BOOM! An idea slapped some sense into me! So if you’re like me and love roadtrips, this might be right up your alley!

I started by laying down 2 coats of OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui (oh my glob, and what glorious coats they were! Will definitely be swatching this baby soon!). When this was dry I used THIS tutorial from Oh My Gosh Polish and made my trees and moon with WOW Nail Polish #393 and Sinful Colors Snow Me White. Lastly I made my road on my middle finger also using WOW Nail Polish #393 and Sinful Colors Snow Me White.

I love the idea behind the trees! They are so versatile! Halloween, sunset gradient, mystic forest...you can use them for so many things! I absolutely can not wait to try them again!

Lots of mad love...

#PPSAnailchallenge - Unicorn aka "Big girls, you are beautiful!"

*Sings* Yes, I do, I believe, that one day I will be, where I was, right there, right next to you! And it’s hard, the days just seems so dark, the moon, the stars are nothing without you! *sing sobs* Thank you! Thank you! (And thank you Sam Smith for the heart string pulling lyrics) I’ll be here all week!...I just missed you guys mkaay?? And my lil space! *hugs blog* hello babeh...anyhoo, to the mucho fun stuff. The #PPSAnailchallenge! If you haven’t heard about it yet, it’s a challenge that the admin ladies (Ooh! Oooh! I’m one!) of the Polished Pretties South Africa group on Facebook put together for the month on June to get our creativity flowing. It is a challenge that is open to absolutely ANYONE, even the smexy international beings. All you have to do is make a mani according the theme and tag it using #PPSAnailchallenge. Le easy!

Unicorn

When I saw this prompt I was over the moon because cmooon, frakking Unicorns! What is not to love?? Uuuumm...well when it came to the actual mani my brain pulled the mother of all blanks. I had zero and I mean ZERO ideas. And then it hit me like the beautiful flick of a majestic Unicorn tail. With all this positive body imagery going on nowadays and people learning to love themselves and embrace their imperfections, why not celebrate the more fuller, fun loving, donut eating Unicorns?? Oh they exist! Where do you think cupcake sprinkles come from?

I started out by laying down 2 coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White as the base for my mani. When this was dry I cut a makeup triangle into smaller blocks and sponged on randomly over my nails using Essence Free Hugs, Essence Love Is In Air, Color Club Twiggie, Sinful Colors Sail La Vie, OPI Do You Lilac It, and China Glaze For Audrey. To add a bit of sparkle I added a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust over the sponged base. To make my donuts I used a thin nail art brush, Essence Wanna Say Hello, Essence Free Hugs Color Club Twiggie, OPI Do You Lilac It and Sinful Colors Snow Me White. For the hearts I used my thin art brush and Sinful Colors Folly. Lastly I made my fuller figured unicorn using OPI Fly, Tip Top Nail Chic Melting Marshmallow, Sinful Colors Folly and WOW Nail Polish #393.

I kinda like how this came out! It’s not 100% like I imagined in my head but it’s still cute and happy-feeling, which is what I was going for. To me that is mission accomplished right?!

Lots of mad love...
