#31DC2015 Day 6 - Day 10 aka SO DAMN BEHIND!

What’s up beautiful people! So the #31DC2017…I am so far behind I make it look like it’s currently in fashion! Buuuut, between getting sick and being dataless, I think I can be excused! EXCUSE ME, DAMMIT! So now we play the catch up game, which means this post is going to be PIC HEAVY!

I will be posting 5 days posts today, the next 5 posts either tomorrow, Sunday or Monday and then we’ll see where it goes from there. I do want to try and be finished before month end though because I want to start posting weekly again without being tied to a prompt The descriptions in these collective posts will also be shortened so I’ll only be stating the techniques and the polishes/stamping plates used.

So there you have all the prompts done till DAY 10. I hope I can be caught up by the end of next week because I am going on a short holiday with my family and then it’s back to “KNUCKLE DOWN, BUCKLE DOWN, DO IT, DO IT, DO IT!” (My husband reads my posts so he now has that song stuck in his head! You’re welcome, babe!)

#31DC2017: 3.Yellow

Lovelies! Lovelies with the lovely jubblies! It’s Sunday and everyone is gearing up for the new week so not going to blab too much today. Sometimes silence is good. Needed even! So let’s get to today’s nails for the #31DC2017, shall we?

3. Yellow

For my base I started with 3 coats of Color Club Endless Summer. On my ring and middle finger I then layer stamped using Mundo de Unas White, Mundo de Unas Black, Born Pretty Store plate BP-146 and a clear stamper. For the pinky and index finger I made decals using Mundo de Unas Black, Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Harunouta plate 18 (available from Born Pretty Store).

I did a mani with skulls in it yo! Of course I’m happy with it! Now…lets touch on this yellow. I don’t like 3 coat polishes! AT ALL! Especially if it’s a crème but…BUT…this yellow is so worth it! It is juicy sexy! And honestly, I think with a bit of careful applying it could be a 2 coat yellow polish. Doesn’t it just scream summer?

Rasta Zigzags...I think??

Hey sex-ba-boms! (20 points to you if you get that reference!) Do I seem a little bit more chirpy than last week?? Oh it is because I absolutely am! Between you and me, shark week came a knocking last week...yeah, so during that time life can seem to suck in general and I feel super emo! I even kinda had a small cry because I was a day or 2 late and my stomach was feeling uncomfortable. So I had this full on fight with myself that I don’t want to be pregnant but if I am I promise I won’t resent the baby and I’ll bring it up being awesome and geeky and and and...Needless to say, I wasn’t pregnant! Don’t get me wrong, I do want kids one day but I’m also smart enough to know me and my husband can’t afford it right now. Like not at all! So for now WHOOOO! I just wish my uterus would rather just send me a notification like “Hey! You’re not preggies! Look at you taking you birth control like a responsible little adult! Kudos dude! Totes laters till next month...hopefully! *high five*” 

So enough about that bit of TMI for today, let’s get to nails! I’ll be honest, there was absolutely no inspiration behind these nails and I just felt like using some brain searing neons and black. SO I DID EXACTLY THAT! #WINNING

I started out with a coat of Sinful Colors Snow Me White as my base color. When this was dry I added a coat of Nubar Palau Coral over one half of my index & pinky and China Glaze I’m With The Lifeguard over the other half. I then took a small piece that I tore off a makeup sponge and dapped WOW Nail Polish #393 down the middle. For my ring and middle finger I made a stamping decal using the above mentioned colors and Bundle Monster Stamping Plate BM-423.

Am I the only one feeling kind of a rasta vibe with this mani?? It is totally unintentional but hey, I’m not complaining! Also, my camera hates neons! Such a pity because this mani SCREAMED in real life AND I LOVED IT!

Spazzy Stripes!

Hi there you sexy beasts! Raaaaawr! Why the rawr? Because it’s Friday! Do a sexy rawr to the person sitting next to you!!!...What’s that? The person next to you is a creep? Ok fine! Do a sexy agonising painful scream in their direction. Did they run away in terror?? YOU’RE WELCOOOOME! Also, can we take a minute and stare at my sexy new blog banner?? My Viking man has mad skills right?! I’ll do a sexy rawr to him any day. PS...If anyone is interested in using his mad design talents, give me a shout. He does this type of thing to make a bit of pocket money so the more design work, the more Burger King and polish he can buy me! #WINNING

So since it’s Friday and we’re all in a lazy easy mood, I decided to keep today’s nail art easy. No big explanations, no big hoorah of what inspired me and no diddly nonsense because let’s be honest, you’ve heard enough of that from me today.

I started by laying down 2 thick coats of China Glaze I’m With The Lifeguard as my base colour. When this was dry, I double stamped over the green using Bundle Monster plate BM-316, Sinful Colors Snow Me White and WOW Nail Polish #393. 

See? So easy it almost feels like cheating. Buuut besides my camera hating neons and making my skin tone look different in every picture, I liked how this came out. Simple but kinda funky!

Hi lovelies! Aaaah, how I want to be witty and funny tonight but alas, I am exhausted! So how about I do this post, go shower and then snuggle into my viking man's back? I like this idea!

#31DC2015: Rainbow Nails


This prompt slayed me! SLAYED! I really thought it was going to be easy but I swear every single idea I had just turned out disastrous! 3 manis later and on the brink of quitting, I settled for this.

I started with a base of Sinful Colors Snow Me White. When this was dry, I went in with my fan brush and the following polishes to create my "rainbow": China Glaze Spontaneous, China Glaze Starboard, Nubar Competition Red, Tip Top Nail Chic Banana Split and Sinful Colors Endless Blue.

I'm actually kinda sad that I struggled so much with this prompt because I was really looking forward to it and I pondered over it for so long. But I also think that was my problem. I overthought it. But so we learn and grow!

#31DC2015: Black and White

Yay! I can post! We had some power issues at work today so my work laptop, being my always laptop, ran out of battery life! BUT HERE I AM! I can post! YAY!

#31DC2015: Black & White

Aaaaah black and white...you would think the possibilities would be endless right?  WRONG! Thea once again joined her friends in blanky McBlankville! But after some soul searching aka Googling I finally found something I like! Yes, I really don't like the technique because I usually suck at doing it but I gave it the old hearty try and that's all that counts!

I started by laying down 2 coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White. When this was dry I made the gradient using a makeup sponge and WOW Nail Polish #393. Lastly, I added a coat of L.A. Girl Spotted over the gradient, top coated it and BOOM! Bob's your uncle!

Okay. I know this sounds weird but can we please take a moment and just appreciate the fact that I did a semi successful gradient! That has never happened in The Thea Universe before you guys! NEVER! I might be a little proud of myself! *Hi5's all around*

#31DC2015 Blue aka...no! No aka today!

Hi lovelies! Since I'm not really a person for posting on Saturdays I am going to keep todays post very very short and oh so sweet!

#31DC2015: Blue


I love blue! Seriously! It is possibly my spirit animal of nail polish...funnily enough I had NO inspiration whatsoever I got to this prompt. So basically I picked up my nail art brush, some blue polishes that "spoke" to me and I just went to town!

For my base I layed down 2 coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White. When this was dry I made weird flamey shapes with my trusty nail art brush and Sally Hansen Pacific Blue. To finish the mani off I took a thin striping brush and added the darker blue lines with Zoya Song.

Blue makes me so happy! And I am LOVING Sally Hansen Pacific Blue. I finally know now why people went so nuts when the original color got re-done...dammit, now I need to go dust hunting for back-ups of this polish!

#31DC2015: Green aka Feeling All Leafy!

I need to stop with these titles...honestly! What the hell is "feeling leafy"?? Do I feel kinda swept away?? All fragile and green?? Like I can be plucked off at any second?? ...maybe! Wow, I think I just discovered my inner emo child. Better stock up on black eyeliner and bad internet quotes! And much like my post title, this rant was utterly pointless and went absolutely NOWHERE! So let's rather get on with the #31DC2015.

#31DC2015: Green


So, I've had a certain Wistonia plate that has been kind of bugging me for a while now because I've really been wanting to use it but the time just didn't feel right. So along came the #31DC2015 and when I saw the green prompt I knew I have finally found the right time!

I started out by laying down 2 coats of China Glaze Starboard for my base color. Next I used Wistonia plate W202 and stamped on the leaf images with Mundo De Unas Lime. For the lady bugs I used Hean City Fashion #156, WOW Nail Polish #393 and Sinful Colors Snow Me White.

Haaaa, I don't often say this but I think these look cute! Kinda springy and happy. And who doesn't love ladybugs. Just because they kind of give me a rash when they walk on me doesn't mean I don't like them. They aight by me!

#31DC2015: Yellow aka I Just Came To Say...Yellow??

Did you sing my title?? Come ooooon! It's epic!...okay, I suck. I know. But just go with it okay? Let me not jabber on about WEAK ASS titles though and rather jump straight into the stuff you are actually here to see!

I haven't done a skittlette in AGES so when the inspiration hit me for this many, I was kind of over the moon! And epic thing is the inspiration literally just hit me out of the blue...or yellow?? Suck it Google! I didn't need you this time!

I started out by laying down 2 coats of Tip Top Nail Chic Sun Kissed over all my nails. On my ring finger I added a coat of Seche Vite Top Coat and added a bunch of different black rhinestones and studs which I painted black using WOW Nail Polish #393. On my middle finger I put on some sellotape to make the triangular shape, added a thick coat of Sinful Colors Snow Me White over the gap and pulled the tape off immediately. Then I laid down a few mini chevron vinyls by NailVinyls over the white and filled in the spaces with WOW Nail Polish #393. Lastly I just laid down a coat of L.A. Girl Spotted over the yellow on my pinky and index finger.

Again, super simple but I actually seriously dig this mani! I have a thing for black and yellow and badly want to make my lounge yellow, white and black but the husband wont bite. I'll get him there one day though! Tee hee hee!

#31DC2015: Orange aka Orange you glad I'm posting again??

Ok yes! My title is SUPER LAME but whatever mkay? Bad jokes and horrible puns are kind of my thing! AND DAMMIT, I SHALL EMBRACE IT!

Anyhoo, on to le good stuff...

#31DC2015: Orange

So I might have been dying to try Ikat nails for quite some time now but when it comes to actually doing my nails, I completely forget about it! So what better time than the #31DC2015 right? I'm not going to describe in detail how I did it but if you want to do Ikat nails you can follow this very easy tutorial by Kayla Shevonne.

For my base I used China Glaze Recycle. For my Ikat pattern I used OPI In My Back Pocket (light orange), Tip Top Nail Chic Solar Flare (darker orange) and my trusty WOW Nail Polish #393 for the black parts.

Easy peasy lemon squeezey! Oh and yay for killing an untried that's been sitting in my polish drawer for over a year! I will definitely be using you again, OPI In My Back Pocket!
